Missoula Police were called to the 2300 block of Ernest on Wednesday afternoon, August 3, around two o’clock.

"A report had been made of two persons that appeared to be sleeping in a vehicle in the parking lot of an apartment complex," said Missoula Police Public Information Officer Travis Welsh. "On the officers arrival they found a vehicle, however there was just a female sleeping in the car. The male who had been reported was no longer there."

The officer couldn’t rouse the woman from her sleep and called for help.

"The officer had difficulty waking the female and observed what appeared to be drug paraphernalia in the car and was concerned about a possible drug overdose," Welsh said. "He called for medical assistance and Missoula Fire and EMS responded. They were able to eventually wake the female and speak with her.

The drug involved in the case appears to be methamphetamine. After waking, 34-year-old Cassandra Meegard was taken to the Missoula County Jail for felony possession of dangerous drugs. This was her second or subsequent offense. The man was located and interviewed, but is not facing any charges.
