Reserve Street is closed between Mullan and River Road while the Missoula Police Department investigates a fatal crash that left 1 female dead and sent two others to the hospital. We're told traffic is being rerouted onto Russell Street, and police say people should expect traffic delays in the area through the afternoon. The following is a press release with more information:

This morning at approximately 6:39 am, Missoula City Police, Missoula City Fire, & Missoula Emergency Services responded to the report of a two-vehicle crash on the Reserve St. Bridge.

Preliminary investigation at the scene reveals that a compact car occupied by an adult male(25) driver, and an adult female(24) passenger were travelling northbound on Reserve St.

The compact car appears to have crossed the center line where it was struck by a southbound pick-up truck occupied by an adult male (57)driver.  The two vehicles came to rest against the West Guardrail, on the southbound side of Reserve St.

The three persons involved in the crash were transported to St. Patrick’s Hospital where it was determined that the female passenger had succumbed to her injuries and is deceased.  The extent of injury for the two male drivers is as yet unknown, but at this time they do not appear to be life-threatening.

The investigation is on-going at the scene; as such no further information is available at this time, but more may follow as it becomes known.
