Missoula residents near the 1500 block of South Fourth Street West heard a shotgun blast about 20 minutes after midnight on October 21. Missoula police appeared on scene shortly after the shot.

"The officers determined that there was a male on scene that had fired his shotgun from outside of his residence back into his residence," said Missoula Police Sergeant Scott Pastian. "Nobody was injured. There are as many as five known witnesses that will need to be interviewed before we can determine what charges to file against the person, if any."

According to Pastian, there was no one in the house or behind the front door that was pelted by the shotgun blast. It is still unclear why the suspect shot his own home.
