A man is in the Missoula County Jail after being accused of trying to run over another man with his car. Missoula Police Public Information Officer Travis Welsh explains.

“This morning, at about 12:16 a.m., officers responded to the 100 block of Bank Street where it was reported that a vehicle struck a pedestrian,” said Welsh. “Upon investigation, they learned from witnesses that it appeared the male driving the vehicle intentionally drove at another male and struck him with a purpose.”

Neither of the men involved are from Missoula. The driver of the car, 23-year-old Nolan Malone is from Great Falls, the victim was a 40-year-old man from Townsend.

“Mr. Malone has been arrested for aggravated DUI, negative vehicular assault, assault with a weapon, leaving the scene of an injury accident, reckless driving, and no proof of insurance,” Welsh said. “The Townsend man was treated at the scene by EMS and was later transported to the hospital.”

Welsh couldn’t comment on the severity of victim’s injuries, but said that he was conscious and able to speak with officers both at the scene and the hospital.
