A new website about the Missoula to Lolo Trail was officially launched on Friday, March 14, by Missoula County and its project partners.

Missoula County Parks and Trails Program Manager Lisa Moisey said the new website will help to answer a lot of questions people in western Montana have about the project.

“Missoula County and its partners received a TIGER grant of over $4.5 million to construct the Missoula to Lolo Trail,” Moisey said. “This will be an eight-mile long trail that’s 10 feet wide and will be shared by bicycles and pedestrians.”

Moisey said the trail, when completed, will connect all the way from downtown Missoula to downtown Hamilton.

“The trail will parallel Highway 93 between Missoula and Lolo,” she said. “The trail will eventually connect Lolo with the City of Missoula’s Bitterroot Branch Trail, allowing continuous shared-use path connectivity between Missoula and Hamilton.”

Moisey said construction is scheduled to begin this fall.

“The goal is to start construction in the fall, and we’re expecting it to take from a year, to a year-and-a-half to complete,” Moisey said.
