Saturday was a much better day for the Hamilton Broncs and Lady Broncs at the two-day Class A High School Tip-off Tournament between Northern and Southern Division teams at the University of Montana basketball courts. Friday, Hamilton lost two games to Whitefish. The Lady Broncs lost by three points, 34 to 31, and the Broncs lost by 6 points, 71 to 65. However, Saturday was a different day as both teams found victories against Polson. The Lady Broncs went out to a 27 to 3 first quarter lead and stayed in front at the half, 41 to 2; after three quarters it was 59 to 22 and the final was Hamilton 68 Polson 29. Immediately after that game, Hamilton's boys went up against the Pirate Pirates. The teams were more evenly matched in the first quarter with Polson leading 12 to 11 at the beginning of the second quarter. Then, Hamilton took over scoring in that quarter with the halftime score 32-20 in favor of the Broncs. After three, the score was Hamilton 52 Polson 34 and the final tally had Hamilton defeating Polson 75 to 49.

We have other scores from the two-day tournament. Friday, the Polson Pirates defeated Stevensville 67 to 56, but the Lady Yellowjackets beat Polson 56 to 36. Corvallis had a tough time with Browning Friday, the boys losing 61 to 36 and the girls losing to Browning 53 to 30. Saturday, Corvallis Blue Devils lost to Libby 42 to 31 and the Corvallis girls lost to Libby by one point - 47 to 46. Hamilton will visit Corvallis for a double-header Tuesday evening, December 11. We will have both games on the air at KLYQ 1240 AM, at www.klyq.com and on our very popular and free KLYQ app on your cellphone. That cellphone app is where you can also play our Christmas Scavenger Hunt from the Hamilton Downtown Association - "Jingle the Bell!" Hundreds of dollars in prizes will be given away on Christmas Eve.
