Montana gas prices keep rising, but gasbuddy.com Petroleum Analyst Patrick Dehaan says lower prices are just around the corner.

"Prices nationally have begun to slow back down although Montana prices continue to inch forward," DeHaan said. " Montana's average in the last week has only risen about three cents a gallon, currently averaging about $2.22, that's about a dollar a gallon less than just a year ago."

Gas prices this summer could be the cheapest we’ve seen in a long time.

"Right now, we are all seeing the added cost a the pump of maintenance and a shift to summer gasoline, but once that maintenance is done, and once that transition to summer blends is over. We will likely see the cheapest summer at the pump since 2010."

Dehaan says lower crude oil prices are the result of an economic downturn worldwide, and are particularly driven by a slowdown in crude oil demand by China.
