Montana residents who fly out of Missoula International Airport will again have the opportunity to enroll in the Transportation Security Administration’s popular TSA Pre-Check application program. Deputy Director Brian Ellestad explains.

“Every slot was pretty much taken last time they were here and they actually extended it to a two week period and they are going to do the same thing this time around,” said Ellestad. “It expedites the check point process, you don’t have to take off your shoes, you can leave your gels and liquids in your bag and you can leave your laptop in your bag. You have already gone through a known travelers list so it just speeds up the process.”

According to Ellestad, over 400 people waited in line for a chance to use this service last time it was in Missoula. He recommends that people go online and register ahead of time before coming to the airport.

“We had a lot of walk-in traffic and that is where potentially you could have to wait in a little bit of a line to check in,” Ellestad said. “That is why we really recommend just going online and pre-registering so you can get your time slot. I did it last time they were here and it literally took no more than three to five minutes so it was pretty quick.”

The TSA Pre-Check application program requires a one-time fee of $85. You can apply here.
