I was recently reminiscing the glory days of animation on MTV. I remember learning to program my VCR to record "Beavis and Butthead" and "Liquid Television," so that I wouldn't miss a minute. One of the animation classics from the late 90's was "Celebrity Death Match." Before animation was totally done by computers, people would spend countless hours molding clay figures and making them battle to the death. Let's just say things got messy.

According to the Hollywood Reporter

Eight years after its six-season run came to an end, Celebrity Deathmatch creator Eric Fogel and Wasteland Entertainment are behind the new incarnation, with Chris McCarthy and Paul Ricci also on board as executive producers. The new version will again feature animated no-holds-barred fantasy fights between infamous figures from entertainment and pop culture and will be reimagined for a social media world and hourly Twitter wars.

The original series ran for 75 episodes on MTV from 1998-2002 before it was canceled, only to be revived by MTV2 in 2005 as part of a Friday programming block that ultimately aired in 2006. The fifth season, produced by Cuppa Coffee Studios, drew 2.5 million total viewers to the network, becoming MTV2's highest-rated season premiere ever before the series was canceled for a second time in 2007.
