Multi-Vehicle Crash Closes Highway 93 Outside Polson – Cuts Car in Half [AUDIO]

A driver who may have been under the influence of drugs is suspected of causing a three vehicle accident on Tuesday, February 25, just north of Polson on Highway 93 North.

Trooper Terrence Rosenbaum was the first law enforcement officer on the scene.

"A small Subaru station wagon traveling north of Highway 93 was attempting to make a turn onto a residential road when a white Ford Crown Victoria smashed into the rear of the Subaru, pushing it into the barrow pit," Rosenbaum said. "When that happened, the Crown Victoria rotated clockwise and was struck broadside by a southbound pickup truck, ripping the Crown Victoria in half."

Rosenbaum said all the individuals involved were wearing their seat belts, so there were no serious injuries.

"The drivers of the pickup truck and the Subaru were both taken to St. James Hospital in Polson for treatment of minor injuries," Rosembaum said. "The driver of the Crown Victoria that caused the crash was not hurt. The investigation is ongoing as to whether he was under the influence of drugs at the time of the crash. The fact that all the people involved were wearing seat belts saved a lot of lives."

Rosenbaum said the road conditions were mostly bare and dry at the time of the accident.

Highway 93 was closed just north of Polson was closed for about two hours due to the accident.
