Watch Muse’s Lyric Video for ‘The Handler’

We’re just a few days out from the June 9 release of Muse’s new album, Drones, and ahead of that day, the English rockers have debuted a lyric video for album track, “The Handler.” Check it out above.

The clip features a dark set of imagery coupled with the song’s lyrics, doubling down on the upcoming album’s concept, which frontman Matt Bellamy has described as exploring “the journey of a human, from their abandonment and loss of hope, to their indoctrination by the system to be a human drone, to their eventual defection from their oppressors.”

Prior to “The Handler,” Muse have unveiled Drones tracks “Dead Inside,” “Mercy,” “Psycho” and “Reapers.” The former recently reached the No. 1 slot on Billboard’s Modern Rock Chart. Drones follows Muse’s 2012 full-length, The 2nd Law; you can pre-order the upcoming album over on iTunes.

Bellamy and company have already announced a string of tour dates overseas, but have yet to reveal any North American stops. The band has also revealed that -- if logistically feasible -- they plan on flying actual drones during their upcoming concerts.

“Drones are obviously an interesting thing to try to bring into the live show so we’re going to try and do that,” Bellamy explained. “There’s going to be some difficulty with red tape of health and safety about flying things over, but the general idea is that as the tour starts that we’ll be using flying objects.”
