The conventional wisdom says 'If 10% ethanol is good, then 15% must be better'! Not so, says a noted petroleum analyst.

Patrick DeHaan, senior petroleum analyst with GasBuddy dot com says the Obama administration's plan to begin producing E-15, that is, unleaded gas containing 15% ethanol not only will reduce gas mileage, but will be damaging to gasoline engines, as well.

DeHaan will be publishing an article on February 5 detailing his research into the increased ethanol, saying only corn producers will gain by the move.

The Washington Examiner also says the new E15 gas will ruin car engines because the longer it sits, the more it turns to a gel that will gum up an engine.

DeHaan says American oil companies are lobbying hard to keep the Obama administration from implementing the change to E15 gasoline.
