This Friday (July 14), the latest film in the Planet of the Apes franchise, War for the Planet of the Apes, hits theaters, and keen-eared listeners seeing the latest teaser trailers on television may have recognized some familiar music in the background in the spot. It's the song "Go to War," the latest single from Nothing More.

"This is awesome!!" the San Antonio, Tex. based rockers enthuse on their official Facebook page. "Check out #GoToWar in the trailer for War for the Planet of the Apes!"

Late last month saw the band release the song as a single and video, with frontman Jonny Hawkins explaining the meaning behind it.

“Trust is the foundation of every relationship," he said. "As trust erodes, our need for control grows. ‘Go to War’ is about how we circle the problem, unknowingly spinning the web tighter. If you circle enough, it becomes a spiral. If you spiral enough, it becomes a war.”

That description makes sense within the context of the official synopsis of the film from 20th Century Fox, which reads in part, "Caesar and his apes are forced into a deadly conflict with an army of humans led by a ruthless Colonel. After the apes suffer unimaginable losses, Caesar wrestles with his darker instincts and begins his own mythic quest to avenge his kind. As the journey finally brings them face to face, Caesar and the Colonel are pitted against each other in an epic battle that will determine the fate of both their species and the future of the planet."

"Go to War" comes from Nothing More’s upcoming The Stories We Tell Ourselves album, which hits shelves Sept. 15 through Better Noise Records. It can be pre-ordered in the format of your choosing and with special add-on options at the band’s PledgeMusic pre-order site.
