Of Mice & Men singer Austin Carlile has had to have surgery after revealing last week that he is dealing with complications stemming from the genetic disorder Marfan syndrome, which affects the body's connective tissue. Carlile wrote on Twitter that he was about to undergo a ”big operation” and that he hopes it will be the “most effective of all the procedures they've tried thus far.”

In a statement on his Twitter page yesterday morning, Carlile wrote, “About to head into the big operation now! Hopefully this will be the most effective of all the procedures they've tried thus far and will get me back on my feet and home again! Even when I finally do get back home, there's still progress to be had from there. Small steps!”

After the post, the singer got immediate support from his fans and fellow musicians. His bandmate Aaron Pauley replied “You got this!” to his post, while Mark Holcomb, the guitarist of Periphery, sent his best wishes and Hatebreed singer Jamey Jasta jokingly offered to send strippers to the hospital to help Carlile in his recovery. Back on June 7, the band wrote on Facebook that Carlile had to check himself into the hospital on June 6 and needed to remain their for evaluation. That resulted in the cancellation of the last two dates of their 'Full Circle Tour'. Last week, Carlile revealed on Twitter that he was hospitalized because of complications stemming from Marfan syndrome and was being moved to Stanford University Hospital to be cared for by his own cardiologists and Marfan syndrome specialists.
