Billy Corgan Explains Feud with Soundgarden

It’s been a while since Billy Corgan last made headlines for getting into a slap fight with another band. We figured maybe he had decided to lay low as he prepares for the Smashing Pumpkins‘ upcoming tour, but most likely, it’s because he’s run out of bands to complain about. That was the implication last Friday (Aug. 31), when Corgan went on the radio to clarify his recent remarks about Soundgarden.

Billy Corgan Says Soundgarden Are Only Back In It for the Money

Earlier this summer, Smashing Pumpkins frontman Billy Corgan spoke out against the touring “nostalgia acts” recently put on by bands from the so-called grunge generation, saying such reunion treks “subvert the original meaning of the grunge generation’s music, which is rebellion.” Now Corgan is back at it, going so far as insisting that these days such groups are just going after the filthy lucre  – and this time around, he’s also naming names.

Billy Corgan Wants a Smashing Pumpkins Song Played at His Funeral

This might sound a bit morbid, but Smashing Pumpkins‘ singer Billy Corgan, who just issued ‘Oceania,’ knows which song he would like to have played at his funeral. Turns out it’s one of the singer-guitarist’s own tunes. That’s not really surprising, given the depth and breadth of the Pumpkins’ expansive catalog of alt rock hits, which dominated the airwaves in the ’90s. So which one did he choose?

Smashing Pumpkins “1979″ – Vidiot

I don't know if you have ever tried to roll down a hill in an old tire. But it was probably one of the dumbest ideas I have ever had. The tire was old and had rusty metal belts sticking out of it. Too top it off it made me so damn sick. It felt like I had just gotten off of the "Zipper" set on warp speed. Needless to say, I yakked. In today's Vidiot, a group of kids try the same stupid thing.

Wavves Star in Weed-Themed Video Game

Always game for going green, noise pop thrashers Wavves have done the ultimate in extended adolesence: they’re now starring in their very own weed-themed video game. Choose either frontman Nathan Williams (on bike) or bassist Stephen Pope (on board) to rip through three levels of drug dealing and cop dodging: first through suburbia (be sure to aim for the doors) then through the city (wait for the streetlight to flash) and then in a hellish demon level (throw it at the demon! demons love weed!).
