Remember when Missoula finally got our very own skate park? It was such a big deal, that even Tony Hawk showed up to the unveiling. Now our friends in Stevensville are set to get their very own skate park. Backed by Montana's very own Jeff Ament of Pearl Jam.

The community was initially raising the $60,000 needed to kickstart the project with bake sales, raffles and Valentine’s Day roses, but after visiting the proposed site on Friday, Ament stepped in with a promise to pay for the bowl section of the park.

The park is the latest in the bassist's efforts to bring the communities of Montana skateboard parks. To raise money for Pearl Jam's Vitalogy Foundation, $2 from every concert ticket the band sells goes toward their non-profit organization, which in turn benefits groups handpicked by Pearl Jam members that are "doing commendable work in the fields of community health, the environment, arts & education and social change."

It is said that Jeff showed up to view the future site of the park, and said, while looking at the Bitterroot Mountains "I want to skate here." Stevensville is not the only community in Montana affected by Jeff's slice of the "Vitalogy money." He recently helped build a skate park in Browning, Great Falls, Polson and even invested money in Missoula's skate park.
So, next time you see Jeff, say "Thanks for being RAD."
