One year ago today we lost a very original, creative rock'n roll soul. Type O Negative frontman "Peter Steele" (Petrus T. Ratajczyk) passed away at the young age of 48.

Most people remember Peter for being a mysterious, vampire-esqe, enormous (In more ways than one. He posed for playgirl.. Not being gay here, just giving credit where credit is due) leader of one of rocks most creative and dark rock bands.

What most people don't know is behind all that genius, Peter was a pretty normal dude that was gifted with great talent. He was born into a Catholic family in Brooklyn, NY. Not in some crazy vampire mansion in Transylvania. So many of Type O's songs seem shrouded in mystery, and in most cases they are. Just not the way you would think. There is a lot of comedy, and just quirky references that most people wouldnt get unless you dug a little bit deeper. I always loved that about Type O Negative. They made you work for the music. Peter Steele will truly be missed. You can bet I'll be rockin plenty of them today on the show. Below is an interview I did with one of his biggest fans, Wednesday 13 of the Murderdolls the day after he passed.
