The internet podcast "This Week in Microbiology" is coming to Hamilton Friday, November 18, for a live recording at the Performing Arts Center (PAC) at Hamilton High School.

The show, hosted by Dr. Vincent Racaniello of Columbia University, is heard throughout the world wide web and usually features a sceintist or two in a small studio.

This time, you are invited to be part of a live audience to watch a panel discussion about how Rocky Mountain Laboratories scientists have influenced students and teachers in the Bitterroot Valley.

The free program, "Small Town Big Science," will start at 7 p.m. at the PAC at 327 Fairgrounds Road and will be recorded for later broadcast on the web.

On the panel will be Hamilton teacher Marie Antonioli, former Corvallis teacher Jim Striebel and Corvallis graduates Kyle Shifflett and Forrest Jessop and Hamilton graduate Bryan Hansen. The three graduates have gone to science careers, due in part to programs they had in middle and high school in Hamilton and Corvallis.

Many of the panelists have been on KLYQ's Event Show on Fridays to preview what they'll be talking about on the PAC stage.

The program is part of Rocky Mountain Laboratories public science outreach program in the community, according to Dr. Marshall Bloom. Racaniello is excited to have an audience and expects to interact with them.
