Missoula Police are searching for clues in a purse theft case from April. Public Information Officer Travis Welsh explains.

"Back in April right around mid-day we have a report from a woman who was eating at a fast food restaurant and upon leaving she forgot to take her purse with her," Welsh said. "In reviewing surveillance video in the restaurant they observed another male had actually approached and taken possession of the purse and left."

The thief has been using a checkbook stolen during the incident at several businesses across Montana

"Well since the original theft several the couple’s original checks have been passed fraudulently," Welsh said. "There was an attempt  to use the credit cards that had been in the purse and we’re in the process of tracking them all down. In fact we have one attempt in another city, it was Bozeman.”

Anyone with information about this case is asked to call Crime Stoppers at 721-4444.
