Ravalli County Museum Hosts Ghost Searches

It's that time of the year, when the wind blows through the bare tree branches and the darkness creeps in earlier and earlier each day. Halloween is near!

The Ravalli County Museum in Hamilton has been the object of ghost hunting in the past few years, and some evidence of the "other side" has been found. The building is the former Ravalli County Courthouse, with a full basement, vaults, an old creaky courtroom and judge's chambers, and dark hallways and stairways.

With new detection equipment - such as EMF detectors, EVP recorders and Ambient Temperature Laser Thermometers - a group of intrepid souls will be spending the late night and early morning hours for the next three weekends to listen for "things that go bump in the night."

The groups will be in the building from 10 p.m. until 3 a.m. October 13, October 20, October 27 and, of course, Halloween, October 31.

The Ghost Tours are open to the public, though only 14 tickets are available for each night. Tickets are $20 each for Museum members and $25 for the general public. Those under the age of 14 are not allowed. Those under age 17 must be accompanied by an adult.
