Scott Weiland is currently out touring with his solo band, The Wildabouts, and it looks as though things will remain that way in the wake of his recent firing from Stone Temple Pilots. In a new interview, he reiterated his stance that "no one in the band can be fired" from the band, but he's now taking a more reflective approach to his time with the band.

Weiland tells Spin that the war of words and breakdown in communication is "something that has taken on its own life. Behind the scenes, it's really not anything different than what was going on before." He adds, "[STP] really have been together a long time and I'm proud of that. I really do like those guys and it hurts my feelings when we aren't getting along, because I view them as family."

Despite news of his official firing last week, he once again disputed the action. "There are some issues that have to be worked out with STP," explains Weiland, "but they’re the same issues that have been going on since the end of the last tour. Nobody in the band can be fired. No one’s ever fired anybody, and no one's ever quit the band."

The vocalist just began his 'Purple to the Core' solo tour with his Wildabouts bandmates where he's taking on material from each of Stone Temple Pilots' first two albums. Footage from his Flint, Mich., set can be seen below, while a review from local station Banana 101.5 can be read here.

Weiland says of the trek so far, "In actuality, things are going great. I'm just gonna take the high road and say that things are actually going very positive."
