The Missoula County Sheriff's Office is investigating a burglary that took place early Monday morning on Cattail Drive in Clinton.

Public Information Officer Paige Pavalone said the incident took place sometime between 1 and 5 a.m.

"When the husband woke up at about 4:45 a.m. to go to work, he discovered that his house had been ransacked and several items had been taken," Pavalone said. "This all occurred while there were two children sleeping downstairs with the dog, and two more kids upstairs sleeping with the parents".

Pavalone said someone entered through the back of the residence through an unlocked door.

"Two laptop computers were stolen at a value of about $3,000, and a very expensive watch was stolen, along with many other items," she said. "Some of the items were ditched outside the residence. In addition, a fire extinguisher taken from the inside of the residence was found deployed three houses down from where the burglary occurred."

Pavalone said the sheriff's office is working on a Crimestoppers poster to inform the public and the media about the burglar in Clinton. If anyone has information, they're asked to call the Missoula County Sheriff's Office, or Missoula Crimestoppers at 721-44-44.
