Though Foo Fighters are taking a break between albums, Dave Grohl is remaining busy with a new film project. Earlier this fall, Grohl's mother, Virginia Hanlon Grohl, revealed to the Sydney Morning Herald that a film about Dave's life was in the works, and thanks to some social media posts, it appears that shooting is now underway.

One of the most recent posts comes from an Annandale High School principal who spotted a film crew on his campus and learned that it was Grohl, who attended school there, shooting a piece. Grohl's mother also was a teacher at the school.

While few details have been revealed about the film, Dave's mother hinted earlier this year that it could involve his siblings as well. She did reveal that the movie focuses on his career "from Scream to Nirvana to Foo Fighters." “We are doing that,” she added. “Coming soon.”

Grohl has taken an increasing interest in film in recent years, working on the Sound City documentary, then shooting a docuseries for HBO surrounding the creation of the band's Sonic Highways album.

During a chat with Billboard in October, Grohl stated, "I’m ready to take a break, but I’m ready to do it again at some point.” Speaking more about his process, the singer-guitarist added, "When we start making records it’s almost like I don’t hear the song as much as I can see them, in my head. So I don’t read music, I see music in kind of shapes and patterns, so I can see the next record, I know that there is another one there, I don’t know when but I think I know what we should do.”

Meanwhile, as the year winds down, Grohl took the opportunity to participate in Warren Haynes' annual Christmas Jam. Grohl fielded a band to celebrate his "Play" solo recording earlier this year, but they also performed a number of covers including Nirvana's "All Apologies" (as seen below in fan shot footage). Grohl has been reticent to dive into Nirvana material in the year's since the band's conclusion, but did reunite the surviving members at Cal Jam earlier this year for a six-song set and agreed to play the "All Apologies" cover with Haynes.

Though Foo Fighters are taking a bit of a break, there are a number of tour dates already booked for 2019, with appearances at the Chris Cornell tribute, DirecTV's Super Saturday Night, the opening of The Fillmore in New Orleans and festival headlining spots at Epicenter and Sonic Temple on their schedule.
