A significant spring storm will impact the Missoula area on Tuesday and Wednesday, April 22 and 23.

Meteorologist Genki Kino with the National Weather Service Office in Missoula said the system will bring with it widespread moderate to heavy rain causing small rises to area creeks and streams, accumulating snow on mountain passes, along with breezy to windy conditions on Wednesday afternoon.

"It looks like we'll get the main impact of the storm on Tuesday," Kino said. "As for impacts, there may be snow on the roads, but it will melt off fairly quickly. We may not have a lot of impact, but we're definitely going to transition into a wet, cool pattern for the rest of the week."

Snow amounts in the mountains include two to four inches on Lookout, Lolo, and Lost Trail Passes.
