Those involved with methamphetamine are often tied to other criminal behavior and this problem was on display in Missoula the past three days. On Saturday, March 10, Missoula Police received a call about a suspect who was arrested as recently as last June on 12 charges, Police spokesman Travis Welsh explains.

"A casino in the 1200 block of West Broadway called to report that a female who had previously trespassed on the property was back again," Welsh said. "When the officer arrived he made contact with 32-year-old Justina Maier, who was placed under arrest for an outstanding, no-bond warrant and she was subsequently found to posses methamphetamine."

Fast-forward to Monday morning when police made two more arrests, the first involving a transient who was supposed to register as a sex offender for a crime committed in Wyoming with a victim under 16-years-old.

"At about 12:05 a.m. an officer came into contact with 37-year-old Bryce Scholz, the officer had prior knowledge that Mr. Scholz had an outstanding warrant," Welsh said. "[The officer] made contact with [Scholz] at the corner of Burns Street and Defoe, confirmed the warrant and placed him under arrest only to find out subsequent to that that Mr. Scholz also had methamphetamine on his person.

About an hour later, a suspect called police hoping they would remove someone from the premises of a local hotel, Police ended up doing so, but it was the caller herself who was taken to jail.

"She was identified as 33-year-old Elizabeth Wollaston, the officer spoke with her and she learned that Mrs. Wollastonn had an outstanding warrants for her arrest and she was taken into custody. Shortly thereafter it was learned that she had methamphetamine in her possession as well as well as items that are commonly used in the distribution of dangerous drugs"

Those weren’t the only drug related arrests either. 30-Year old Megan Baughman was arrested for tampering with evidence on Friday after trying to sneak someone else’s urine into a required drug test. Baughman was part of a check fraud ring arrested in 2016 that bilked at least 45 Missoulians of more than $37,000.
