The Ravalli County Museum's annual "Afternoon of Cowboy Music & Poetry" has fallen prey to the overwhelming forest fire smoke in the valley.

The cancellation of the September 9th event was announced Wednesday. The official reason - "hazardous air conditions." The gathering of singers and poets usually happens on the front lawn of the museum, but conditions have continued to be at the "unhealthy" level much of the week in Hamilton.

Museum officials thanked Chapter One Book Store, Lakeland Feeds, Dick and Judy Estler for their assistance and sponsorship of the event.

Officials said that refunds for advance ticket sales are available at the museum during regular business hours.

However, if you'd like to swap the tickets out for the upcoming Liquid Apple Night in October, the museum staff is ready to help with that, too.
