Information released by the Social Security Administration shows that more Montana babies were named Liam in 2012 than anything else.

According to the Montana Department of Health and Human Services, there were 12,052 babies born in Montana in 2012. The number of births in 2012 (12,052) was surprisingly similar to 2011 (12,039).

A look at the recently released data on the Social Security Administration website shows that the popularity of names like Mason, Madison, Brooklyn, Ethan and Braden declined, while perennial favorites like Liam, Emma, Olivia, Wyatt and Ava maintained widespread use.

For those interested in finding out what names were popular in their birth year, the Social Security Administration keeps a public record that is digitally accessible back to 1960.
