The U.S. Department of Transportation this week awarded the Stevensville Airport two million dollars for runway improvements.

The announcement from Montana U.S. Senator Steve Daines noted that the grant total was $1,999,142. The money will be used for resurfacing the runway and adding another runway at the facility northeast of Stevensville in Ravalli County.

The Stevensville award was one of four in Montana announced this week for "critical construction upgrades." The other airports are Great Falls, Kalispell and Bozeman. The grant total for the state was over $7 million.
