Just in time for St. Patrick’s Day, recoveryfind.com has released a study on The U.S. States that Drink the most.

According to the study, Montanans out-guzzle most states with the most breweries per capita, the second most bars and liquor stores per capita, and the seventh highest rate of binge drinking. Coordinator for the Missoula Forum for Children and Youth, Steve Schmidt says Montana drinkers need to take steps to be responsible.

"Set the example," Schmidt said. "Understand that your kids are watching and more stuff is caught than taught when it comes to kids. If we want to break this cycle, we really need to be the example, which means no drinking and driving and if you want to consume alcohol that means you do it responsibly and in moderation."

Schmidt has seen first-hand the horrible results of drinking and driving.

"I'm a former police officer and it only took me one time to help  pull a lifeless body from a vehicle for it to be enough. I just think that we need to start thinking about our community as a whole and understand that our kids are watching and our kids are going to do what we do."

Schmidt stressed the importance of planning for a safe ride home for all drinkers and to have a contingency plan if possible.
