A couple of days after performing their first and only show of 2014 and a few weeks after announcing the 2015 'Wake up the Souls' tour, System of a Down have added the first U.S. date to their 2015 schedule. They'll kick off the tour April 6 in Los Angeles before heading to Europe, where the trek resumes April 10 in London.

The tour commemorates next year's 100th anniversary of the Armenian Genocide. It will wrap up with System of a Down's first-ever performance in their homeland of Armenia.

“It’s truly an honor for System Of A Down to commemorate the 100-year anniversary of the Armenian Genocide by performing our first-ever concert on Armenian soil,” says drummer John Dolmayan. “But it’s equally important to show our appreciation to  the people and the state of California who have succored the Armenian people in their time of greatest need and who have led the way in genocide recognition and legislation. Los Angeles, please honor us with your presence on April 6.”

“The Armenian community around the world, with its largest U.S. component in L.A., has been instrumental in placing the necessary pressure on successive U.S. administrations and Congress for the just recognition of the Genocide,” adds vocalist Serj Tankian. “So this tour wouldn’t be complete without a performance in Los Angeles.”

Tickets for the L.A. show go on sale Dec. 19.
