Alice in Chains recently broke the good news that their new album is finally complete. The process took a little longer than expected with Jerry Cantrell needing a break for shoulder surgery in the midst of writing and recording the music, but things are now back on track for the rockers and they've got a little Holiday surprise in store for fans.
Alice in Chains guitarist Jerry Cantrell has confirmed that the band recently finished recording their new album, due out in 2013. The new disc will mark the follow-up to their 2009 release ‘Black Gives Way to Blue.’ Alice in Chains started working on the new tunes back in 2011 but were sidelined when Cantrell had to undergo surgery on his shoulder.
The 10th annual tribute to the late, great Alice in Chains vocalist Layne Staley, who passed away in April 2002 at the tender age of 34 after years of addiction struggles, is set for this August in the Seattle/Tacoma area. It’s a massive celebration, as five days of events and performances have been planned to remember the singer whose definitive voice marked the grunge era of rock ‘n’ roll.
The promoters behind the Mayhem Festival tour are auctioning off special VIP packages for two charities. The 26 packages -- one for each show -- will go up for bids on eBay on May 17th. The highest bidder will get to watch his or her favorite band perform from seats on stage, and will win backstage access and a drumhead autographed by all of the bands. Proceed
Are you ready for some fantasy football? Jerry Cantrell is best known as the scorching guitarist of Alice in Chains, but some fans also know him for one of his favorite hobbies: fantasy football. For three years now, Cantrell has run the AIC & Friends Fantasy Football Charity League, which features fellow musicians, athletes and friends playing against each other to raise money for charity.
Another rock and roll soul was taken from us today. Mike Starr of Alice In Chains was found dead. You might remember Mike was recently on the reality series "Celebrity Rehab". I honestly thought he would be the only one on that series that was going to start over, and make a clean slate... Early news reports are claiming there was prescription pills, and other substances found at the scene.
