Batten down the hatches, because something called ‘a classic arctic intrusion’ is headed for Missoula, and it is due to arrive on Sunday with very cold temperatures, snow and gusty winds.

There is a temperature range that is best for the test.

Western Montana has for the most part escaped any severe winter weather recently, but that will change this weekend as a very cold and wet arctic front is headed this way and is expected to set up shop in Missoula and western Montana.

The National Weather Service office in Missoula is calling for an end to the warm springtime weather in time for the weekend when a cold arctic front is headed toward western Montana from the east.

The National Weather Service has updated their forecast for the weekend and into the following week with more detailed information about the impacts it may bring to the area.

Summer will be a distant memory by the end of the week if forecasts by the National Weather Service Office in Missoula are accurate.

Ski areas in western Montana are closed on Saturday due to cold temperatures and high winds creating life-threatening wind chill conditions.

Bitter, brutal, bone-chilling, all ways to describe just how cold it was in Missoula early Thursday morning, as the temperature plummeted to 19 degrees below zero.

A weather reporter in Pennsylvania, recently went off on a 3 minute long rant about the cold temperatures in the east coast. According to the reporter, people are dying in the streets of Philly from the arctic temperatures.  As the reporter goes off on her marathon tangent, with out taking a breath, all I can think about is how good the ice fishing must be in Pennsylvania.

Funny how half the nation is completely frozen, and it is damn near t-shirt weather in western Montana. Keep spraying that aerosol and crack the air conditioners... Now, you may have seen a ton of videos of people throwing boiling water in the air, only to have it instantly freeze...
