The general hunting season in Montana starts this Saturday. Regional Wildlife Manager for Montana Fish, Wildlife and Parks, Mike Thompson, says the season runs for five weeks through the Sunday after Thanksgiving.
In my lifetime, I can count on one hand how many deer I have hit on Montana's highways. I can't count on all my fingers and toes, how many close calls I have had. An Arkansas teen recently had a REAL "close call" when her car collided with a buck and was impaled by his antlers.
We here in Montana know that hunting is not just a hobby, but a way of life. It is ingrained in our proud culture. Every Fall we take to the hills in search of the elusive beast. Some find what they are looking for and some don’t
From my experience this hunting season, there seems to be a big increase in the amount of hunters in the field. For a lot of those people, it is their first time out in the field, and being new to the sport can be interesting. For example, see the video of a deer playing dead and making a hunter scream like a girl.
