One of Montana's most iconic races is coming together this year with the help of some new organizers: Run Wild Missoula and The Missoulian are teaming up to put on this year's Snow Joke Race, now celebrating its 40th anniversary.

Though Run Wild presides over several short races, this is one of their only half-marathons. The event has grown substantially in 40 years, with just 32 runners in that first race giving way to over 800 runners in 2016. And, unlike most marathons, this one allows you to bring your dog to run alongside you.

Many runners are eager to get back into the Snow Joke spirit, and preregistration is outpacing last year. More than 450 people are already signed up for the race, which takes place on February 23rd. Will you be taking part?
