Fire season is well underway in the Bitterroot National Forest where crews are working to take down two fires that were detected over the past few days.

"We've been having some lightning storms coming through the last couple of days and one of our lookouts has discovered two different fires, one discovered on the 26th and one discovered on the 27th: the Sula Creek fire was contained last night, but the Trapper Creek Fire will take a few days because it is in very rocky terrain," said Bitterroot National Forest Information Officer Joni Lubke.

Even though lightning sparked fires are the problem right now, humans have started the most burns so far this year.

"We've had five human caused fires and four lighting caused fires, mostly little ones that we've had taken out," Lubke said.

According to Lubke, those human caused fires were all out-of-control campfires.
