Somewhere over the rainbow, way up high, there's a land that I've heard of once in a lullaby - and it has perfect weather for a pond hockey tournament.

Needless to say, that land is not Missoula.

The Missoula Pond Hockey Tournament 2013 is officially cancelled due to weather.

"High-quality ice is the key to pond hockey," said Ray Davis, the tournament's organizer said. "We knew early this week that conditions would need to be quasi-perfect for the tournament to continue as planned."

With highs in the lower 40s, and lows within a degree or two of freezing, conditions were not perfect for the maintenance of ice.

The tournament was slated to take place at The Ranch Club, a local golf club just off Mullan Road.

"The Ranch Club has taken a lot of time and energy to ensure that the rinks are ready for the tournament, and it's heartbreaking to know that the tournament is on the rocks," Davis said. "Thanks for everyone's support and flexibility as we work to make the magic happen for this event."
