When you think of cold temperatures, you think of places like Alaska and the Yukon. For some you may even consider that wind swept hell hole of North Dakota the coldest in North America. Well, you are wrong. Good ol' Montana holds the record for the coldest temperature in the U.S., It happened 63 years ago today. A mining camp on Rogers Pass recorded a low temperature of -70 degrees below zero. That is the coldest temperature EVER recorded in the lower 48 states.
