Nine Inch Nails mastermind Trent Reznor and his composing and How to Destroy Angels cohort Atticus Ross are about to add to their resume with another new film score. The musicians have signed on to create the score for the film Patriots Day, which will center on the story of the Boston Marathon bombing.

Director Peter Berg revealed the news on his Instagram account, stating, "I couldn't be more honored than to be working with these two straight up genius artists. Trent Reznor and Atticus Ross. Bringing their deep soul and fury to Patriots Day."

The movie will arrive in limited release on Dec. 21 before opening to a wider audience on Jan. 13. Mark Wahlberg, John Goodman, J.K. Simmons, Michelle Monaghan and Kevin Bacon are among those starring in the film.

Reznor and Ross have worked almost exclusively on David Fincher films, scoring The Social Network, Girl With the Dragon Tattoo and Gone Girl. They also created a musical piece called "Juno" as a tribute to the space probe of the same name that was launched by NASA in 2011 and reached its destination on Jupiter on July 4, and have reportedly lent score work to a Leonardo DiCaprio environmental documentary called Before the Flood.
