Trent Reznor has found his next project. USA Today reports that he’ll lend his talents to creating the official theme song for the next ‘Call of Duty’ video game.

Reznor told the paper that the song will feature “aggressively sounding” guitar rock in keeping with the theme of the game that “envisions a new Cold War between the U.S. and China.”

The singer says, “There is a lot of reservations and angst and sense of loss and regret and anger bubbling under the surface. So it didn’t make sense to have a gung ho patriotic kind of theme song. It has to feel weighty.”

Weighty is something that Reznor does well, from his various projects to his musical score work on such films as ‘The Social Network’ and ‘The Girl With the Dragon Tattoo.’ The singer also has a history in the video game world, previously working on ‘Quake and Doom 3′ for id Software.

‘Call of Duty: Black Ops II’ is due in stores Nov. 13.

In related news, Reznor revealed that he’s also returning to work with his band How to Destroy Angels. He adds, “We have a finished album. It’s been finished for a little while. We’re doing a little bit of tweaks on it. The record will be out soon. We are doing a different type of distribution this time, so it’s taking a little longer to coordinate stuff. There’s a lot of music about to be unleashed, videos, et cetera.”

He also added that he’s started thinking about Nine Inch Nails again, and says the first music since 2008′s ‘The Slip’ album is “in its gestation period.”
