"After the threat came in, we assigned an investigator to look into it," said Missoula Police Sgt. Scott Pastian. "Based on the facts of the investigation, we ended up citing two male juvenile students with criminal mischief and disorderly conduct for writing the threat."

Pastian said that his department is not aware of any link between the bomb threat at Hellgate Elementary School and the bomb threat at Big Sky High School. Authorities are not calling the threat a "copy-cat" crime either.

Due to their age, trial dates for the two children will be set by youth court.

"The two children were cited and released to their parents," Pastian said. "The reports and citations were forwarded to youth court and youth court will handle the punishment phase."

Pastian said the heightened security at Hellgate Elementary School will be withdrawn now that the source of the threat is known.
