UPDATE - 12:30 P.M. Friday, April 28.

The Montana Highway Patrol has confirmed that an unidentified 42 year-old man was killed in a two vehicle crash between Missoula and Lolo.

Trooper Luke Burson said a white pickup truck was southbound, while a green pickup truck was northbound," Burson began. "For some reason, the white truck veered into oncoming traffic, and almost caused a couple of head-on collisions, but ended up colliding with the green pickup. Unfortunately, the 42 year-old driver of the white pickup is deceased.."

Burson said both drivers were wearing their seat belts and airbags deployed in both vehicles, however the driver of the white pickup died and the driver of the larger green pickup walked away from the accident with no injuries, and refused medical treatment at the scene.

Burson said speed is always a factor in a head-on crash, but it is not yet known if alcohol, drugs, or distracted driving may have led to the fatal accident, which is still under investigation.
