Troy Miller, 30, appeared in Missoula Justice Court on Monday, charged with attempted deliberate homicide and robbery, after allegedly shooting a man on I-90 on July 16 and leaving him for dead.

According to court documents, Miller and an accomplice, Katherine Evans, drove the victim, identified as Michael Drozdowicz, out I-90 near Turah, robbed him and then forced him out of the vehicle, where Miller allegedly shot him twice, once in the neck and once in the shoulder. Drozdowicz played dead and after the two drove away, he was able to walk to the interstate where a passing motorist called 9-1-1. Missoula County Sheriff's deputies found him lying on the highway and transported him to St. Patrick Hospital.

Drozdowicz was able to identify both suspects, and they were eventually apprehended at a motel in Seattle, Washington where they were arrested and held on a $500,000 warrant out of Missoula County.

At his appearance in Missoula Justice Court via video before substitute Justice of the Peace Marie Andersen, Deputy Missoula County Attorney Jordan Kilby asked that bail for Miller be maintained at $500,000.

"The offense in this case is attempted deliberate homicide," Kilby said. "It's a very serious offense that warrants that kind of bond. This individual has several felony convictions on his record. There's one for burglary, theft and possession of meth. In fact, your honor, it is my understanding that methamphetamine was involved in this offense. Since his address is in Washington, he has very few ties to the area, so I consider him to be a danger to the community and a flight risk."

Judge Andersen set bail for Miller at $500,000. His next court appearance will be August 12.

Miller's companion, Katherine Evans is fighting extradition. Kilby said Evans will be returned to Missoula after court proceedings in Washington State.
