They've been doing this for 37 years! The Bitterroot Winter Special Olympics are coming up January 30 and 31 at Lost Trail Powder Mountain. The ski area at the south end of the Bitterroot Valley has hosted the event every year.

The days are filled with competition in everything from skiing to snowshoeing to innertubing with more smiles per capita than almost any other event you'll attend. Each year, organizers put out a call for volunteers. That is happening right now. You don't have to be a skier because much of the volunteer activities happen in the lodge, where to food is prepared, the registrations are completed and the results are tallied.

There are three days where volunteers are needed - Monday, January 29, for course set-up and Tuesday, January 30 and January 31, for the actual events. You don't have to be there for the whole event, either. Pick a day or pick an afternoon and come help. If you want to just come watch - do that, too! The Grand Entry is Tuesday afternoon.

Call Carla at (406) 363-3028 for more information or to volunteer.
