During Robert Trujillo and Kirk Hammett's "doodle" segment last night (May 9) at Metallica's Helsinki, Finland show, the pair covered Michael Monroe's "Dead, Jail or Rock 'N' Roll," and brought up the singer to provide vocals and harmonica on the track. Fan-filmed footage of the performance can be viewed above.

Monroe was the frontman for local glam-rock heroes Hanoi Rocks and released the song as the lead single from his second solo album, Not Fakin' It, which came out in 1989. Fans at the Hartwall Areena went crazy as the singer took the stage in a shiny black blazer and pants along with a bright red scarf.

Trujillo and Hammett have been paying tribute to a local act each night in all the European cities in which they are performing on tour after the band does "Halo on Fire" when drummer Lars Ulrich and frontman James Hetfield leave the stage. Recently, the two took on "The Final Countdown" by Europe and the '80s classic "Take On Me" by A-ha.

Previously, the pair covered Michael Schenker Group’s “Into the Arena” and UFO’s “Rock Bottom” in Hamburg, Germany, Black Sabbath’s “War Pigs” last fall in Birmingham, England and they covered Oasis’ “Don’t Look Back in Anger,” at a Manchester, England gig, which occurred in the wake of the bombing at an Ariana Grande concert. Recent weeks have seen them take on the Accept classic "Balls to the Wall" in Leipzig, Germany; paid tribute to the late Celtic Frost bassist Martin Eric Ain in Switzerland with a cover of "Procreation (of the Wicked)"; and salute German '80s star Peter Schilling's "Major Tom (Coming Home)" at a gig in Stuttgart, Germany.

Metallica are in the midst of a two-night stand in Helsinki, returning to the capital city tomorrow night to close out the European leg of their WorldWired Tour. Following tomorrow's gig, the band will take off for the summer and then return to the road in North America for a run of arena shows in the fall. The full list of upcoming dates can be found here.
