The Montana wolf hunting season is in its final two weeks.

The Montana legislature rushed through HB 73 last week enabling wolf hunters to take up to three wolves and lowers the cost of a nonresident wolf hunting license from $350 to just $50.

Governor Steve Bullock signed the bill last Wednesday.

Montana Fish Wildlife and Parks spokesman Ron Aasheim says as of Friday, hunters have taken 116 wolves, while trappers had harvested 84 for a total of 200.

The wolf hunting and trapping season will officially come to a close on February 28th at sunset.
