A Missoula woman, Jessip Akau, 23, is in the Missoula County Jail after allegedly breaking into a man's home and beating him on the head with a tire iron, causing him serious injuries.

According to court documents, Akau accused a neighbor in university housing, Druard Archer, of slashing one of her tires. When he denied the charge, the affidavit states that Akau lost control and beat Archer in the head with a tire iron.

Responding police officers found Druard had been struck in the head multiple times, was bleeding profusely and was missing a large part of his ear. While being treated by medical personnel, Druard lost consciousness. He was transported to St. Patrick Hospital where he was diagnosed with AN orbital fracture, a broken jaw, a partially severed ear and a possible brain bleed.

Chief Deputy Missoula County Attorney Jason Marks said Akau appeared in Missoula Justice Court and was charged with felony burglary and assault with a weapon. She was remanded to the jail on $100,000 bond.
