"At the the siren, all crime, including murder, will be legal for 12 hours. Your government thanks you for your participation..."

Okay, serious question: Would you actually commit a crime if it were legal? Seriously think about this for a second...No one would be able to stop you. What would you do?

I just saw the new trailer for The Purge: Election Year, which is slated to hit theaters this summer, and I have to be honest, I've thought about if such a thing were to exist in a country, what would actually happen?

If you haven't seen the series, the idea behind "purging" is to "cleanse your soul," as characters say. The movie explains how purging helps lower crime levels, and the like.

Crime is at an all-time low because one night a year, all crime is legal. Tonight is a night for release, for all hatred and violence that they keep up inside them.

Your one goal that night? Survival.

My thoughts? I think if something like this were to actually be enacted in the U.S., there would probably be more smaller crimes than larger, more heinous ones like murder. There would most likely be a lot of drugs or robberies, but murder? That seems more far fetched, but who knows, I could be wrong.

This also has be wonder...If the purge was real, how would you try to survive? Would you participate?
