We've seen some weird ads before, and we've seen our share of passive aggressive behavior too, but this new ad website from Microsoft is the strangest one of all. By heading to DestinyFragrance.com, you'll be greeted with the image above, which seemingly advertises a brand new perfume or cologne based on Bungie's anticipated shooter, Destiny.

By clicking on "discover more," you'll then see the following message:

OKAY, SO HERE'S THE LOWDOWN.

Destiny is actually an epic new first-person shooter, available on Xbox. Thing is, we didn’t have permission to run adverts for the game.

So we didn’t.

Thanks for smelling that something was up.

Now get the game and become a legend.

We're not going to lie, we got quite the chuckle out of it. It does seem a bit catty or immature, but Microsoft is obviously upset with Sony's hogging the Destiny spotlight and they wanted people to know they weren't going to take it lying down. The only question we're left with is simple: what would the Destiny fragrance smell like? Plasma with a hint of lavender? Fruity oils mixed with gunpowder? The moon? We don't know, and we don't know if we want to find out, but we applaud Microsoft for the laugh.

Destiny will launch on Xbox One, PlayStation 4, Xbox 360 and PlayStation 3 on September 9, so no one will be left out.
