It was a sobering weekend for workers at Yellowstone National Park who had to recover the body of a young girl that died in a tragic, accidental fall.

Zahra Allahyari was eight years old from Poway in Southern California and was visiting the park with her family when she fell Sunday morning, August 17.

"This young girl and members of her family, were in the Canyon area of the park," said YNP spokesman Al Nash. "They were on the North Rim Drive and had parked at a trail head to the Brink of the Lower Falls. The group had made their way about two-thirds of the way down the trail toward the observation platform when the girl stepped off the trail, slipped, and fell 550 feet to her death."

The girl's body was accessible to emergency crews who were able to recover the body at around noon on Sunday.

This is the third accidental death in Yellowstone National Park this year.
