A 19 year-old Missoula man has been charged with two counts of felony sexual assault and one count of misdemeanor indecent exposure.
KGVO News is not identifying the suspect’s name, showing his photograph or revealing the address where the alleged incidents occurred in order to protect the identity of the female victims, who are ages three and seven.
At the defendant’s Missoula Justice Court appearance on Thursday, Deputy Missoula County Attorney Kaitlin Williams asked Judge Marie Anderson for $100,000 bail.
“This defendant is charged with felony sexual assault and indecent exposure involving two minor children who are both relatives,” Williams began. “The younger victim is three years old and resides in the same house as the defendant. He admitted to sexually abusing one of the victims for six months to a year. The State believes this defendant to be a significant safety risk due to his statements that he ‘could not stop himself’.”
Judge Anderson set bail at $75,000, and should he post bail, that he be placed on GPS monitoring, have no contact with either victim or the family members who live in those homes.
At his court appearance, one of the defendant’s uncles offered to allow him to stay at his residence, should the defendant be released on bail.
The defendant’s next court appearance was set for January 4.
